YOUR SERVICE COULD BE SUSPENDED

Due to the severity of the global Internet virus infections, NorthernTel may have to block dialup customers ability to authenticate or suspend high speed connections whenever an infected computer is found to be threatening the quality of our service. Every effort will be made to inform customers of a suspension but depending on the number, it may not be possible to inform every infected customer.

We apologize for any inconvenience a suspension may cause, but the integrity of the service as a whole will be our primary concern at this time.

To avoid infection, please make every effort to scan and protect your computer. Your virus scanning software, regardless of the brand, must have the most recent data files. Virus scanning software that is not current simply will not work. Most virus scanning data files are updated daily. Quality virus scanning software providers maintain current data files online for downloading and include an automatic update.

In addition to virus scanning please insure that the latest security patches have been applied to your operating system from the Microsoft Windows Update site.

Finally, consider employing a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security.
