Black with red-patches on the
wings, (or dark brown with streaked breasts in the case of females,) the
red-winged blackbird is a relative of orioles, meadowlarks and cowbirds
found across most of Canada. Though migratory birds, small numbers of them
spend their winters in British Columbia and Ontario.
