The use of the snowmobile
nearly spelled the doom of the Canadian Eskimo Dog when it replaced
the dog sled. Dedicated efforts by the Eskimo Dog Research
Foundation have ensured the re-establishment of the breed. Today
these dogs are available both as pets and for the original Inuit
purposes: pulling sleds, packing loads and hunting.
