One of the 12 stamps depicts the Mountain
Maple. Known by many names including dwarf maple, low-moose maple, white maple or
white wood, it grows eastward from Saskatchewan to the Maritimes. Its gorgeous
red foliage guarantees its use as an ornemental tree, while as an anti-erosion
species its roots grip solidly into slopes or river banks.
