In sharp contrast, the
Yellowhead Highway (Route 16) runs by gently rolling hills and wide
riverbeds as it passes from Manitoba to the Rocky Mountains. It grew up
along the Canadian-Pacific Railway line that linked rural communities to
one another across the Prairie frontier. A section of the highway located
100 miles west of Winnipeg is depicted on the stamp.
